S.C. Department of Revenue to Notify Taxpayers
Regarding Security Breach
CertusBank is committed to protecting your privacy and personal information. On October 10, 2012, there was a security breach at the South Carolina Department of Revenue. This breach exposed the Social Security numbers, personal data including names and addresses, tax return information, and credit and debit card information of some South Carolina taxpayers, as well as private information from some South Carolina businesses.
Please be aware that the South Carolina Department of Revenue recently announced it would formally notify any taxpayers whose personal information had been compromised during the breach. Taxpayers who signed up for the free credit monitoring service provided by the state should receive e-mail notifications, while all others affected should receive letters via mail.
